Cryptids

Driven by my fascination with cryptids and folklore creatures, for my Final Major Project at university I chose to create a book detailing many different creatures, but with a unique and mysterious twist.

Upon first impressions, the book reveals nothing but blank pages. However, with the aid of a UV torch, its hidden contents are revealed, unveiling a world full of cryptids. The use of invisible ink proved to be the perfect medium, mirroring the elusive nature of these creatures.

As this was our final project at university, we hosted an exhibition to unveil our projects to the public and local design studios. Utilising an existing shed in our graphics studio, I designed my show space to resemble a mystical library where my book took centre stage. The book was a huge hit. In addition to our main exhibition, my book was also showcased in two other galleries, one in Southampton and another in London.

In addition to creating a book, I also developed a digital outcome to complement it. I opted to design a website that maintains the concept of concealing information, similar to my book. To access the website, please click the button below.
